Wow, what a great soundtrack! Right from the outset the album starts off with the opening track from the film the fabulous 'You're Gonna Miss Me' by The Thirteenth Floor Elevators, and ends with Stevie Wonder's 'I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever)'. But I feel the pinnacle of the album is Jack Black's rendition of Marvin Gaye's 'Let's Get It On', great in the movie, great on the soundtrack. Every song on the album is top notch, if you are a fan of the movie make sure you add this to your cd collection!

Having achieved moderate levels of success with their self-titled debut and Rated R, Queens Of The Stoneage finally hit the big leagues with their third album, Songs For The Deaf. The last album featuring the revolving door policy of old, the QOTSA group on this album features Josh Homme, Nick Oliveri, ex-Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan and most notably, with the Foo Fighters in disarray, Dave Grohl making a welcome return to drums.
Songs For The Deaf finds Homme streamlining the sexy yet doom-laden groove of the previous two albums into something almost perfect. Mixed as a shift between radio stations from song to song, Homme covers more styles here than ever before. Big hit 'No One Knows' is a straight-out pop song; 'Hangin' ... Read More:

After their initial success via the breakthrough singles 'You Really Got Me', and 'All Day and All of the Night', and the release of their first album, the Kinks were rushed into putting together that 'difficult' second LP. The whole process was done cheaply, under pressure, and took about a week.
Kinda Kinks were the result, and though it's not Face to Face, or even Kink Kontroversy, it has some pretty good Mod era rock; ' Look For Me Baby', 'Come On Now'- with new wave female chorus provided by Ray's wife- plus other tunes of interest; ' Nothin' In The World Can Stop Me Worryin' Bout That Girl'- acoustic folk jazz ala Davy Graham and Bert Jansch, 'Something Better Beginning' the chorus sounding like an 80's Elvis Costello ballad- and ... Having loved the Kinks as a young teenager in the mid nineteen sixties, I was delighted to find this CD. Even though most of the music on this album is a quarter of a century old, it is still relevant today, with its distinctive rhythms and highly stylized vocals, which always let the listener know that it had to be The Kinks to whom they were listening.
While many of these songs were a part of the British invasion in the wake of the Beatles' success, there the comparison should end, because these were the bad boys of rock with their thought provoking lyrics and rage at class divisions. They were precursors for what was to come down the pike in terms of music. They set the standard for punk and techno-rock rhythms.
