One day a ray of sunshine came into my life. Yes, it was the music of Hall and Oats! I previously thought that Paul Carrick was the greatest songsmith of the modern age, but I was sadly mistaken.

Were they touched by the almighty, when they lifted their pens to write "The Best of Hall and Oats", I think they were. And, in my humble opinion, it is by far their greatest work to date.

Tracks 4,5,8 and 11 are all fantastic.

If you buy this today then trust me you won't be dissapointed. In fact it may change your life as it changed mine.

Not regarded as their best, however I would disagree as I think it was the best, just as the title suggests the songs are absolute classics. Daryl & John are best known for their Philly roots & ability at combining rock and soul, Ooh Yeah! in my opinion was when they captured the essence of all the majic of what they were all about. The vocals are raw with production levels bringing to the front what was never to be heard anywhere else again, even by the guys themselves! The single, Everything Your Heart Desires, appears on many 'Greatest Hit' CDs and gives a small taste of what you may expect to hear upon listening to this H&O classic.1987.

After being a fan of INCOGNITO for so many years, I come to find that Bluey has done it again. I can buy an INCOGNITO album with confidence of knowing that I won't be dissapointed. Don't believe me....? I ordered the latest album "Eleven" which will arrive shorty in the mail next week; and I never heard the album except for one song which happened to be an instrumental and I can't wait for it's arrival.

Daryl Hall and John Oates are generally classified as white soul singers but this description is too simplistic - they adapted their style to suit changing musical fashions. I can't quite describe what listening to Hall & Oates does to me, but if it does it for you too then you're lucky! I think they allow you (for that private "microphone moment" in the car or shower) to believe that YOU'RE the successful, loved-up, mulleted 80s dude that you always dreamed you'd be from watching Brat Pack films. They are quite the cheesiest, most soulful, chest-wig-type, 80s, sweetly wailing singers - fanTASTic.

This is an excellent album, with some worthy tracks that haven't appeared on earlier "best of" compilations. I was wooed into buying my first H&O album by hearing the wonderfully indulgent "She's Gone" on the radio, later realising I already knew tracks like Maneater and I Can't Go For That.
