Just when i though hip hop was beginning to stagnate with the slew of poor and artistically lazy rappers spiting "rims" and "hoes" on every joint, there finally comes an album worthy of critical acclaim. This album is fantastic, the beats are varied and melodic, the lyrical content can be both venemous and conscioius all at the same time. Some of the standout tracks are "raw life", "be alright" and "All that you are" If you are looking for something which slightly different but not to abstract then this is a great choice. I've had problems finding inspiration among the 50's and the Lil' Johns. If you love hip hop then sit back, and let this album bring the genres former glory back to make your head nod.

Did they 'out Smiths The Smiths?', in many ways they did what they set out to do. These 2 albums on 1 cd capture Mccarthy in brillaint mood. 'Charles windsor' brings down royalty with the slice of the guillotine and 'well of loneliness' tears your heart out then gives it you back with tax on top.
'I am a wallet' sets about being a very typical jangle pop album , but stands head high above the rest. Content and passion over pose and aesthetic. 'Banking , violence.....' takes this further but not quite as vitriolically. A more sober conclusion. However their real song writing power lies in this type of song. Like lullaby's laced in vodka.
To not have heard of mccarthy or own this album is probably a crime, and you'd better be glad they ... Read More:
