This box set's full subtitle is "The Very Best Of Blaxploitation 70's Movie Themes & Funk Soul Classics", which sounds like the compilers had to cover themselves to avoid anyone thinking it was 3 whole CDs of blaxploitation soundtrack tunes. It certainly isn't all blaxploitation - some of it is from decidedly white films and TV shows e.g. the Starsky & Hutch theme, Lalo Schifrin's Bullitt theme, and a couple of kung fu items as well. And not all of the proper soul and funk records (a large majority of the contents, mostly from the early to mid-1970s) originated from or have ever been used in film soundtracks. But most of it hangs together just fine, and most of it is also extremely fine music.
