For many years the only Boney M product that you could buy were the many budget price compilations each containing a few hits and a few obscure album tracks or tragic remixes.
Then in 2007 each of the original Boney M albums was re-issued with two bonus tracks of varying quality and suitability to the album to which they were attached. Many long-time Boney M fans ignored these re-issues as they included nothing that any serious fan would not already have in their collection.
Now comes the chance to buy all of those re-issues (with the exception of 'Mary's Boy Child' which was in fact a planned Liz Mitchell solo album released under the Boney M name)in one box with a bonus DVD at a very reasonable price.

I have been a Boney M. fan since 1978, when I was 18. Now, in 2008, aged 48, I still love 'em - in their original line-up, that is! It's great that so many of their re-issued albums are now available here at Amazon, and I have already re-stocked my shelves with some new CDs.

However, concerning this Album, the 1979 release 'Oceans of Fantasy', I just have the following words to say...

In my view, it's an okay album, but certainly not as inspiring or foot-tapping as the 1978 classic, 'Nightflight To Venus'. I am, however, re-discovering its charms now on CD, and all that camp kitchness is enveloping me once more. Now, where did I put my sequin-encrusted diving suit...?!

'Oceans of Fantasy' is a good album by a band just past their peak. The previous years 'Nightflight to Venus' was still in the charts when this delayed album was released. The opening track 'Let it All Be Music' would have made an excellent single, but for some reason producer Frank Farian decided to add Eruption vocalist Precious Wilson so the track as a 'guest' vocalist. She solo sings lead on 'Hold On - I'm Coming'. The reason for this was simple. Wilson had left Eruption and an appearance on a new Boney M market was excellent exposure worldwide. For me it would have been better to leave the job to the more than capable Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett.
First single 'Gotta Go Home' is one on Boney Ms less well remembered hits and is included here ... Read More:

Best of 10 Years [Us Import]

This was Frank Farians answer to 'Stars on 45' but coming out as it did in 1985 it was a little bit after the event. It is essentially a long medley of Boney M hits. It looks good enough on paper but when you are listening to it you just get into your favourite hit when it moves on to the next one. The original UK relase in 85 also had a much better group shot cover than this version. It was originally released when Boney M could not give away records in the UK so it was pretty impressive that it just missed the top 30. As a collection it's ok but if you want the original hits your best off going for an original album like 'Nightflight To Venus' as even on the numberous 'Greatest Hits' albums Frank Farian has a nasty habit of pointlessly remixing or editing the ... Josh Groban is insanely popular in America, but mention his name to someone in the UK and you'll get one of two responses -- either a shrug or a reply of "Didn't he sing that Westlife song?" -- both of which are just plain wrong.
