Search: Feels Like Heaven - Fiction Factory

Release Date May 07, 2002
Whoever at Universal/Polygram devised this should be knighted! This double CD, and the accompanying "Volume 2" set, is a wholly enyoyable experience and great fun for anybody who grew up in the 1980s (as I did) or maybe for younger people too young to remember the 80s but who are sick of the current Top 40. The songs on these CDs are mixed into each other (as a club DJ would do) and some of the song selections, especially some of less obvious choices (Gary Numan's "We Are Glass" being a prime example) are inspired. Thankfully we are also spared the really naff 80s music which gives the decade it's currently unfashionable "naff" reputation..... Instead we get quality 80s music from the likes of Heaven 17, ... Release Date March 30, 2002
I would say this is one of the best compilations I've ever bought, since I am a big fan of 80's synthesiser pop and new Romantic music.
Contained here are the well known synth classics, the breezy Gary Numan's "Cars", the poignant Bronski Beat's "Smalltown Boy", the Axel F theme from Beverley Hills Cop and the surreal, catchy Art of Noise's "Close To The Edit"
However there are plenty of other less-well known synth classics here such as Godley and Creme's ominous ghost story "Under Your Thumb", The Assembly's tear-jerking and bravely honest tale of unrequitted love "Never Never" the Thompson Twins' three offerings, the uplifting "You Take Me Up", the tongue-in-cheek "Love On Your Side" and the thoughtful "Hold Me Now". Release Date April 22, 2002
This compilation contains its share of huge hits, minor hitettes and obscure masterpieces. The title is not quite correct, as some of these tracks date from the late 1970s, e.g. Tubeway Army’s Are Friends Electric? (1978). Besides, bands like The Stranglers produced their best work in the 70s.
The most familiar songs on Disc One are Blue Monday by New Order (a timeless club hit), the brilliant World Shut Your Mouth by Julian Cope, The King Of Rock ‘n Roll by Prefab Sprout and Pretty In Pink by The Psychedelic Furs.
Rock The Casbah by The Clash and Dream Academy’s lovely interpretation of Nick Drake’s Life In A Northern Town were hits too, but my favourites are the Bauhaus version of Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust and The ... Read More:
