. RockpileSearch: Fighter by: Dave Edmunds Release Date July 01, 2002 This is another great edition to any collection whether you are a Dave Edmunds fan or not. I am.. so the review may be somewhat biased, but the superb version of the 'Promised Land' is worth the money alone. Also great haunting songs on here such as 'Hell of a Pain' and 'Egg or the Hen', the better known driving song 'Down, down, down', all compete for my affections. This is not one his most well known albums, but there are hidden gems on here the show his true talents. This is a guitarist and half who has never really gets the recognition he deserves. |

NovemberSearch: Fighter by: Jeremy Pelt Release Date July 15, 2008 One of the young guns of jazz Jeremy Pelt continues his recorded output here in rather restrained fashion.Very different from the recent "Shock value" electric album.For this one he goes back to an acoustic setting and chooses the up and coming Danny Grissett on piano and J.D Allen on tenor.Other than the opening track the album is very straight ahead,nicely played by all but not tremendously adventurous by Pelt's past standards.Nevertheless there is much to enjoy here with some fine playing by all concerned.I guess this is what Pelt must have intended for this project but it merely confirms his talent rather than improving his growing reputation as one of the finest trumpeters in modern jazz.Good stuff from JP but definitely has more to offer. |

. I Need 5 Minutes AloneSearch: Fighter by: Pieces Release Date February 17, 1998 If you know the history between Brain and Buckethead an album featuring them sounds quite an exciting prospect. However dont expect a "Spot The Psyco" or any other friend projects Buckethead's done before, this cd sounds as if he's gone into the chicken coop and recorded himself practising on one of his uninspired days. On these experiemental cd's buckethead makes, you expect there to be alot of bad stuff inbetween the good stuff but unfortunatly on this the good stuff is in very short supply. Brain also isnt that noticable in the album, the majority of the tracks are just buckethead playing alone (hence the title name I guess) Only merits for buying this album include some vocal attempts (maybe by Buckethead ?) ...
