I have lived with the original cd since its 1993 release. It was always a worthy addition to her repertoire, the lush settings remind me of Billie Holliday's Lady in Satin. I love the interpretations of the 3 Rod McKuen songs very mature and insightful. In addition, there are fine reworkings of 2 Simone classics "If I should lose you" and "Just say I love him". I enjoyed the re-working of "Papa can you hear me" from the Yentl film soundtrack; Nina personalised the song to give an insight into her relationship with her own father. Finally, I love the humour of her composition "Marry me" - a great ending to the original recording.

Maxine Sullivan hit on a winning formula with her recording of "Loch Lomond" and often returned to traditional sources for material, many of which are included in the 100 tracks on offer here, spanning almost 20 years. This release is very welcome indeed, this is the very first time for Mike's albums on Compact Disc. The recordings are just superb! Listen to the 24 tracks from the two LP's, from strange Music to just A Prayer Away. Orchestra by Norrie Paramour. This CD is worth buying, Mike is gentle and soothing while Mixture is a trip down dixie lane, then a few heartstring numbers, then some half forgotten memories. Please bring out more Michael Holliday CD's please!
