the music world, and one of the least known. Henry Byrd 'Professor Longhair' was a fabulous pianist, and teacher. He influenced people like Dr John and Fats Domino, and was a folk hero in New Orleans. This album is superb throughout with numerous hits like 'She aint got no hair' and the title track 'Tipitina'. He was signed to many record companies, especially Atlantic, and supposedly gave piano tips to the great 'champion Jack Dupree'. Although there are a number of tracks duplicated on the two discs, they are different versions, and it isn't at all repetitive. In fact you keep wanting more, and I'm always dissapointed when its all over, and something else comes on! If you like good time music, you'll love this little gem.
