I have been a follower of the Triple CD 80's era 12" collections since the first one was released a few years back. This collection serves as a reminder of just how underrated the 90's are, and also how bland this period could be too, which ultimately leads to disappointment with this collection.

The set starts off strongly enough, but quickly runs out of steam and feels like the compilation team were scrapping the barrel a little. This isn't helped with the third CD of mainly Acid Jazz tunes some of which have not aged very well, and most of them havebeen available on other compilations for some time..

Plenty of classics here no doubt about that, the Ministry Chill Out is probably opening up the casual dance market to artists and tracks they wouldn't have heard before. This selection mines alot of obvious choices from acid house past (Frankie Knuckles, Beloved, Sueno Latino), the Madchester House scene (Stone Roses, Heller & Farley on The Farm, Primal Scream), and just some plain classic purveyors of chill and electronica (Aphex Twin/Polygon Window, The Orb, Future Sound Of London). So top marks on selection, REALLY good tracks. So why isn't this the best Chill Out CD of all time? Well its this, it just seems to lack soul. Old School Vs. New School [VINYL]

Being a hip hop fan since 1984 it can be very tedious when "old school" albums are released with tracks from the mid 90s. It's very much like those "retro" trainers that are out and everyone thinks they're so cool to wear them when you know that you actually had the originals in the first place but no-one, other than true fans, actually understands !!!.
This is finally an album which doesn't contain the usual remix of "chart" ruined hip hop and deserves massive respect to all concerned in producing the tracks, obviously real fans.
For a real b-boy track list with a twist go for this album and re-live the days of hip hop that evolve around your sneakers and gold chain rather than how many drive-bys you and your homies have done this ... Read More:
