76 Kids was the final release from Sudden Sway - one of the most influential and interesting bands of the early 80's. Their brand of electronic pop art had been honed to perfection throughout the late 70's and early 80's culiminating the staggering 'Ko Opera' album that preceded this release. 76 Kids is a more introspective work that deals with the issue of boring small town life and the need to escape it,(in real life two of the band had escaped Peterborough in the late 70's and made their way to London which makes this piece the most 'real' of all their work).The music is also less layered than the previous releases and this has the effect of pushing the lyrics to the fore making this hold together more like a Musical.
