I'll keep this brief. My first After Forever purchase. I have Within Temptation, Nightwish and love them. But when I took a chance and purchased this retropspective two CD release I simply wondered "why did I not discover After Forever earlier?". If you like female fronted melodic Goth Rock you will love this band. If you like operatic vocals you will love this band. If you love your music to have a bit of drive you will love this band. If you like great infectious melodies you will love this band. If you like your music to include all of the above you will positively adore this band! And what a versatile voice Floors has. I've had this mini album virtually since it came out....and i don't think a month has passed without me listening to it.

Some of the recording is a tad on the dodgy side, such as on 'The Last Scripture' where you can hear the echo off the walls during the guitar break down.
Otherwise the album is sound. The drums are amazingly fast and techincal, the guitar work is disgustingly good and the keyboards are more appropriate than you can imagine!

Unfortunatley they've now changed the line up completley, and there're no keyboaRDS :O (A key part of the band as 'The Scorpion's Dance' is an entirley keyboarded instrumental).

It's a shame that this album hasn't even been rated or reviewd, because it has to be said this is one of the best female fronted metal albums of all time. All the songs off the album are superb. This was the first album I bought from this band, and after listening to plenty of Within Temptation, Nightwish and Lacuna Coil, I decided to broarden my horizons and listened to bands that were not that well known. I was blown away from the sheer power of the album, there is not 1 dissapointiing song, and it has to be said that it is far superior to one of their later albums 'Remagine' which verged on Pop-Rock with grunts. If you are into female fronted metal, or are just obsessed with it like I am, buy this album, it is just fantastic

Before watching Sharpe I had never heard of John Tams, and quite frankly my music collection was the poorer for it! This album is a fantastic mix of score from the shows and traditional folk songs of the period performed by Tams and his mate Barry Coope with an amazing guest performance from the wonderful Kate Rusby. A must have for all fans of John Tams, Kate Rusby, Sharpe and great British folk music!
