From the same folks who produce the "Hits" collections (Sony/BMG/Warners) comes this tie-in with the independent radio chart show. In fact it could have been called "Hits 57 and a half" because ten tracks were on the last Hits album, though I suppose it could have been worse, and it does contain the three most recent (as I write) No 1 singles.
As usual there's something here for nearly everyone, with the emphasis on straightforward pop, boy-band and Pop Idol acts, and the more accessable R&B from the likes of Alicia Keys and Beyonce Knowles. It is in fact a better selection than some recent issues from these companies, and it is very good value.

Well, i was bought the best bands ever as a christmas present a few years back, which is an excellent album. This new compilation is a worthy successor. It contains a good mix of the bands that are around now, brought together on two enjoyable cd's. However the inclusion of what some might term rap or urban music does cause the loss of one star. All in all a good buy.

What a great bunch of songs this is. although the term 'indie' is a rather vague concept this album manages to cherry pick pretty much the best under that umbrella. The Libertine's raw, punky take to the genre kicks off the album superbly (I definatley reccomend checking out Up the bracket). 'Don't look back into the sun' is the embodiment of the way i feel indie is heading at the moment, fresh, raw and fun. The Pixies( and Kim Deal's breeders) give the album a fresh west coast feel ) whilst There she goes brings me back to drunken sixth form friday nights about fifteen years ago. The second disk is arguably weaker than the first, and i suppose I might not be the only one asking why paranoid android isn't in here!!!?? Overall ... Read More:

I really love this album! It is really brilliant and my favourite song is "Jump" by Girls Aloud because it makes me want to get up and boogie and so does "Somebody To Love" by Boogie Pimps. I also like "Too Lost In You" by the Sugababes because it is a perfect smooching song and it is from "Love Actually", like "Jump". I also like "Everybody Cries" by Liberty X because it really brings a tear to my eye. I also like "Be Faithful" by Fatman Scoop, "Milkshake" by Kelis, "Ladies' Night" by Atomic Kitten and Kool and the Gang, "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" by Blue, Stevie Wonder and Angie Stone, "Sweet Dreams My LA Ex" by Rachel Stevens and "I Won't Change You" by Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

I think that this is actually quite a good mixture of music. Its hard to keep everyone happy, but as far as compilations go this one is very well put together! ok there are one or two unfortunate tracks, but the rest is definatly acceptable!

Initially you assume that a Brit Awards CD would have British artists on, of which it does have plenty, but for my liking far too many non-UK acts have been added to the CD. However this isn't necassarily a great problem because of which songs that arent British, they are of a very high standard, releases from 50 Cent, Kanye West and the incredibly infectious songs from Usher.
Every award genre is represented on this CD, however this is one of the two possible downfalls of the album. Even though these songs are undoutbedly the best 'pop' songs of last year, the variety is simply too great and any listener would be forced to skip through several tracks to get to another one they wish to listen to.
The second possible downfall of the CD ... Read More:

This 2CD set has been put together with session and live versions taken from XFM's archives.
CD1 has some of last year's best tracks on it from some of the bands that broke through in 2007. All the tracks on this disc are versions of tracks from debut albums released in 2007, but some of recordings are older than that, showing that XFM are always on the money when it comes to championing new artists.
There's a brilliant acoustic versions of 'I'm Not Sorry' by the Pigeon Detectives from May 07 and Jamie T's 'Sheila' from July 06. Then there's quite a raucous version of The Twang's 'Either Way' recorded live June 07 at 229, a small London venue. Then there's a very stripped down, acoustic version of Same Jeans by The View recorded ... Read More:
