One of the young guns of jazz Jeremy Pelt continues his recorded output here in rather restrained fashion.Very different from the recent "Shock value" electric album.For this one he goes back to an acoustic setting and chooses the up and coming Danny Grissett on piano and J.D Allen on tenor.Other than the opening track the album is very straight ahead,nicely played by all but not tremendously adventurous by Pelt's past standards.Nevertheless there is much to enjoy here with some fine playing by all concerned.I guess this is what Pelt must have intended for this project but it merely confirms his talent rather than improving his growing reputation as one of the finest trumpeters in modern jazz.Good stuff from JP but definitely has more to offer.

Marc Ford first came to public attention with Burning Tree before being snaffled up by the Black Crowes in 1991, contributing to their finest albums, before being fired in 1997. He went on to work with Blue Floyd, Gov't Mule, Chris Stills as well as touring and recording with Ben Harper before getting the call for the Black Crowes "All Join Hands" reunion tour in 2005, his guitar sound being an integral part of what made them one of the finest live bands around.

However, 2006 saw him fax his resignation through a couple of days before the next leg of their tour. Who knows what made Ford jump ship at short notice (and he can't legally say what it was, but keeping sober seems to have been his priority), but to abandon the rock and ... Read More:
