There are a good amount of songs on this 3 disc box set a total of 54 songs.

Some of the songs are the remix type songs with extended intro which is disappointing ,

The set needs more of the 80's classic songs, there is no Frankie Goes to Hollywood but Paula Abdul and Ashford & Simpson make an appearance.

The album has Madness singing Uncle Sam which wasn't one of their biggest songs, the CD's also include a song from Blondie and a song from Deborah Harry, which is bit like having Culture club and then have a song by Boy George.

All in all a disappointing 80's set, no classics and I'm sure if I had looked harder I would of found better.

I have to don my "hmmmmm" face for this review I'm afraid.

So, I suppose it's possible to have a "Mod Music" album without the Who or the Small Faces or The Faces, after all this is one such! But when you also leave out the Lambrettas, The Jam, Rod Stewart and Manfred Mann as well, you do start to wonder. The whole thing plays somewhat like a Madness/UB40/The Beat benefit in fact.

The inclusion of sixties rarities like "Rudi's in Love" by the Locomotive and "Seven Days Too Long" by Chuck Wood (incorrectly credited in the plural "Woods" on this one!) - a straight reggae pop song and a 70s Northern Soul classic respectively - just reinforce the idea that this collection was more about what the compiler could get, rather ... Well, well, well... what do I see before me 'ANOTHER' greatest hits album... and it's true apart from the last CD of whom I must admit never hearing of more than half the 'artists', apart from Meatloaf & Sinead O'Connor and I think that's about it, oh and of course Sophie Ellis Bexter and Kylie, but if anybody has read any of my reviews, then they'll know of my opinion of these so called 'GREATEST HITS', but I can truly say that this one looks like it can 'deliver the goods' so to speak... so maybe I'll be ordering one after all!!
As you can no doubt probably tell, I'm not one of these 'modern missis' ohh no I prefer my music to be well 'music' with a proper beat to it, none of your modern, thump, thump, thump, pound, pound, pound if you ... Read More:

Now for one of the most bizarre compilations to have hit the racks in a long time. Nothing to do with the music, which is excellent throughout, but rather the result of a tracklisting that veers from one genre to another with no apparent direction or meaning - but in a good way!

In any event, as the title somewhat gives away, Mastercuts Bar Life is a party record which features the kind of music you'd hear at your local on a Saturday night.
