This is a good album, definaatly worth buying. The best tracks would have to be fly like and eagle by the steve miller band, cocaine by eric clapden and little sister by ry cooder. I wasn't impressed when i first heard this album but it grew on me and makes great backround music. Not essential buting but a great assent to a music collection

When I read the title, I thought; 'What a good concept, pick choice cuts from well-loved albums.' and then I saw a list of the artists involved, I was already compiling my own tracklisting. And then I saw the album and. . . Well, it's just another ragbag selection of tracks, compiled with no real care. Far from these being only album tracks, the majority would also come under the heading 'singles' and it seems to the compilers at least, all an album track has to do to qualify is beloing to an album, well that disqualifies songs like 'Whatever' by Oasis or 'Paperback Writer' by the Beatles which were stand-alone singles but let's face it, what songs don't appear on albums these days? This collection of well known songs is simply a revelation. The wilson Philips vocal treatment of these classics is in most cases a hugely successful exercise in sonic re-invention and insight. The Neil Young cover version of old man with Carnie as lead vocalist on the verse was what first grabbed my attention when listening to this album - until then I had never realized what a beutifull song 'Old man' was. The same experience occurred with 'go your own way': The subtle blend of vocals is incredible, and show the greater possibilities of the song not shown in the original version by the the original artist. Overall the arrangements and production also, are superb. There are those tracks that for me fall in to the catagory of 'easy listening' ... Read More:

Theres no doubting the quality of most of these songs..though a longer cd would have been more fitting. Smoe ommsions are apparent..tracks like Family man,Isnt it midnight,Beautiful child and a couple of others should have been included. Unfortunately apart from the brilliant Gypsy..the cd has 2 awful tracks from the average mirage album which spoil a good set. The 2 new songs are ok though not amazing. If you are new to FM then this is a good intro to the band as alot of the hits are here. Also check out there excellent comeback album 2003's Say you will which is excellent.
