This album stands up well now, 10 years since it was released. I will never understand why this band were never bigger than they were. The singles were great and were fairly popular at the time of their release. The vocals from Maria are distinctive, cool, original and sexy.
A fine debut album from Salad.

This Vicious Cycle

I bought this album after listening to a couple of previews and heard just enough to purchase the album instantly, and boy was it the right decision.

The standout tracks are Dakota and Sweet steps, the first two tracks on the album. Fantastic catchy riffs that will have you playing air guitar in no time.

My personal favourite is lost in adeline. A truly beautiful song that i must have listened to over a hundred times by now.

The drumming is fantastic, lyrics are intelligent (unlike a lot of punk) and the riffs are ultra catchy.

Quite frankly a great album and looking forward to their new full lengh due later 2005.

Beginning of the End

I bought this album after listening to a couple of previews and heard just enough to purchase the album instantly, and boy was it the right decision.

The standout tracks are Dakota and Sweet steps, the first two tracks on the album. Fantastic catchy riffs that will have you playing air guitar in no time.

Don't Be Scared: It's Only a Fearless Records Sampler

dynamite boy kick-off this cd with some bright, feel-good punk-rock, which despite obvious billy-joe-esque vocals, retains originality with their melodic lead hooks alongside the inevitable 3-chord energy.Dynamite Boy perhaps represent the least diverse band on this sampler, but are difficult to shrug off as just another punk band as they are utterly convincing here.Glasseater may confuse people with their regular punk-rock guitar sound partnered with screaming vocals: it seems out of place, but Glasseater certainly show a lot of promise, but perhaps sounding more like GlassJAW would help them avoid their cross-genre, half-caste position.Interesting stuff.Next up are junction 18 who's 3 tracks prove they are worth the cost of this cd alone.They ... What do Midtown, Samiam, Bigwig, The Impossibles, and Madcap have in common? Well they, along with 20 other bands, are all on The Beginning of the End compilation. That's right 25 bands! This CD is packed with as much great punk, emo, hardcore, and indie rock as they could find room for. The Beginning of the End features some of the greatest established bands out today as well as some of the best bands you've probably never heard.

I loved this albulm from beginning to end, and I definitely would recommend it to anyone out there. It caters for all tastes, but if you like "The Ataris", "Less Than Jake", "MxPx" or especially "Midtown" - then this is the albulm for you!!!

Go buy it!!!

Those Once Loyal

Bolt Thrower recently announced that they were so satisfied with this record that they didn't think they could top it, effectively making it their last album. I find it hard to disagree with their logic, as Those Once Loyal is not only Bolt Thrower's best offering, but also one of the best British metal albums of the last ten years.

There are many factors in this. The key thing is Bolt Thrower hasn't changed their formula, but their playing has gotten so much better over the years. Martin Kearns' drumming is doom-laden as ever, a million miles away from the three-beats days of Andy Whale. The guitar playing is still full of those heavier-than-elephants riffs, but there's some seriously subtle touches on this album less prevalent on ... Read More:

Granite Years: Best of 1986-1997
