 Rating:  - A better compilation if you please I appreciate the early stuff as much as the next person. BUT there were so many more better tracks that I know are there somewhere amongst the full on Network discography. I am thinking about the period that I was a Raver that being 1990-95 and then Jungle drum n bass afterwards. I personally own a few of those 12" records. Reading the notes in the disc box the owners of network say a lot about pre 90's rave music and then seem to be all wrapped up in Altern8 and making them into a pop group, which is what they are/were-anyway. If like me you prefered the more underground sound of 1990 then you remember that as well as releasing a lot of blinding tunes Network released some extremely dodgy tunes as well? On this compilation after the first CD ... Read More: Rating:  - Takes Me BackIt may be a bargain price release but any similarity to the cheapo Passion Music Network 4CD reissues of 1998 ends there. This has the feel of a definitive release and would be well worth the money even at twice the price. What needs to be said about this box set is that the first 11 tracks are stone-cold classics. The remaining 3 and a bit discs contain some real gems that didn't get the proper credit first time around e.g. "Deep Trip" by 3 Down, Kim Beecham's "True Love", Dionne "If You Want My Love" to name but three, plus a few more classics (Final Cut, Symbols and Instruments). All that AND a decent booklet with comprehensvie sleevenotes by the original Network publicity officer John McCready - who gets all "Lunar Park" on us (or does he??) ... Read More: |
