Hot August Night 2, is the follow up album to Hot August Night 1 which was one f the best and highly acclaimed live albums in the 70's.
The sequel recorded in the Greek Theatre in LA, maybe not as good as the original, but still contains some of Neil's early greats like Cracklin Rosie, Sweet Caroline and I am I Said amongst others.

Over all this album is ok but as it gets going Neils voice begins to get tired and very rough indeed spoiling some of his great tracks, however this is a bad thing its just putting more of Neils emotion into the tracks, something wich Neils live perfomances are famed.

If you like Neils Live albums then get this one, it may not be his best but Its very good all the same!

You've probably dismissed Diamond as music your mum listens to. You're wrong to think this because you'll be missing some great pompous rock songs. Some of it's cheesy, but a lot of what is on this best of is genuinely good stuff.

His name looks like an anomaly on my MP3 player's artist list. The thing is, I'm not ashamed as I love these big over the top (orchestra included on everything) songs. And you don't have to worry about good taste getting in the way of your listening experience.

Some of these songs even rock in their own way. Though it's best to skip the Streisand duet. And Brooklyn Road and Morningside don't stand up after a few listens. Otherwise it's great. And the live tracks are very energetic - ... Read More:

A 2 CD set with a good selection of Neil's hits from over the years. For the fans who thought they had everything there is a section thrown in to tempt them as well - from his present tour set (2001/2002) Neil does great live versions of Captain Sunshine, He Aint Heavy and a medley of Yes I Will/Lady Magdalene (with Neil on piano). Definitely something for everybody here.

it counts as a great, but still early tribute to the singer songwriter that Neil still is. This three cd collection of neils gems also contain original and sometimes very funny tracks and try outs of "studio-playing (or fooling) around" with some of his songs (love on the rocks...)so the listener gets a pretty impressive insight in the artists work over the years. Its beautifully boxed and contains personal notes of Neil himself of how he sees his songs (which can be quite reveiling...)

for every die hard fan a total must in every ND collection.
