I had been put off the 'in the mix' series two years ago after it had seemed to go a bit on the pop side of dance music, but 'In the Mix' 2000 has hit back into the new millennium with a nice little compilation of the latest dance stormers across the UK. This cd set is not too hard, yet its also not a lightweight mixing the likes of Fierce alongside the hard trance monsters of Blank and Jones and The Space Brothers. Nice one EMI, but some tracks still leave me puzzled on the compilation (I'll leave those for u to decide!). My recommended tracks are; - Quiver - She Does - Flickman - House of Bamboo - Big Ron - Let the Freak - Artful Dodger - Movin' too Fast - Armin - Communication

OK. A host of classics re spun and rearranged into 3 CD's. Nothing really new here but ok to play at home pre party. I'm sure it will sell well but just another commercial album. The new club scene will probably go for this one but not cutting edge enough for me.

If you've been a proper trance fan for a while you will definitely admit this is a good tracklist for an album bar the odd few commercial tunes, it does cover a lot that other albums missed. However it misses the whole key point. The tracks aren't mixed, just a collection of radio edits stuck together, which really do ruin what could have been a great compilation.

This compilation marks the beginning of the hard house movement. Although there are some relatively cheesy tracks and recurring air horns, the catchy tunes and thumping bass lines are not to be missed. Lisa Pin-Up's CD1 is without a doubt some of the best mixing around and her inclusion of her very own "Future Acid House" and "Baddest Mutha" make it that much better. Her success shows how far hard house has come recently, led by Lisa Lashes, Anne Savage, herself and Fergie. Andy Farley's contribution illustrates what real hard house is all about and he manages to keep it real. Never samey, a great mix and a must for fans of hard house.

Normally, one year's fresh new dance compilation album is the following year's charity shop over-stock, but with this compilation I'd make an exception- it's a CD that eight years later will still find it's way into my CD player every once in a while.

Yes, it's very very cheesy in places and there are some bad musical memories on there (everyone who bought ATB's "Killer" must surely regret it) but there are also a few classics that are still in high regard- ranging from the classic Ferry Corsten mix of the William Orbit-produced "Adagio For Strings", plus "Groovejet", a jazzy version of "Don't Call Me Baby", some of Moloko's "The Time Is Now", and slightly incongruously, the brilliant "Man With A Red Face" by Laurent Garnier.

From 1999 - 2001 was a real special time for trance music and because it was the turn of the millenium. Never will music be produced to such quality again. Euphoric trance was at its peak at this time before ministry of sound and various other record labels managed to get old of the genre and turn it cheesy. Yes the millenium was a very special time not just because it was just that "the millenium" but for all of those of us that were into clubbing at that time the music was simply mindblowing and euphorically amazing!. Never will a genre produce as many quality tunes that meant so much to so many people at one time ever be achieved again.. With a very good mixture of people on the CD and differnt songs this is really good. Popular artists such as Eminem, Jay-Z, Dr. Dre , snoop dogg and even Daniel Beddingfield appearing on this make ita very good and well worth the money.
