. Stillhouse RoadSearch: Home by: Julie Lee Release Date August 31, 2004 Julie Lee seems to have produced one previous album - Made From Scratch - but it's very hard to get hold of a copy! This CD 'Stillhouse Road' contains some songs from that previous album, and a good number of new ones too. It's very smoothly produced, with a lot of superb playing and backing vocals from Alison Kraus and what sounds like a guitarist from Union Station. Julie Lee's voice is incredibly honest, and beautiful, her singing completely ego-less, the songs are really well put together and performed. There is a Christian edge to some of this music, but this didn't put off a non-believer like me, since it was never preachy, but was rather more expressive of Julie Lee's passions than of her beliefs. My favourite CD this year by far... |
