The hick hayseed voice of Jimmy Work was never amongst the most famous but Bear Family issued 2 albums worth of songs now condensed into a single CD.
He recorded for about 6 labels the last of which was Dot where he cut a cover version of Rock Island Line.
Really a part time singer who kept his day job as a millwright the greatest songs he wrote became hits for others-Tennessee Border had 5 covers including Red Foley and Hank Williams and 4 of them were hits.
Making believe was no doubt his biggest song as it gave him a chart single but Kitty Wells' cover took the highest honors.
By 1959 it was all over for the man who began as a Jimmie Rodgers' copyist.In spite of a single on Dot he was never fated to make it as a rockabilly

People who don't know country music will often make sweeping statements about it - the one I've seen most is "All the songs sound the same!". Well this CD is a perfect example of how wrong these people are, because it contains almost every genre of country music that I can think of!

"Sawdust" is Todd Fritsch's second major-label album after two releases on smaller US labels and follows up a very strong self-titled CD. At 17 tracks and just slightly under an hour in length, this album joins releases by artists such as Brad Paisley and Tim McGraw in bucking the established trend for country albums, which generally have 10-12 tracks and sometimes run for as little as 30 minutes.
