Before watching Sharpe I had never heard of John Tams, and quite frankly my music collection was the poorer for it! This album is a fantastic mix of score from the shows and traditional folk songs of the period performed by Tams and his mate Barry Coope with an amazing guest performance from the wonderful Kate Rusby. A must have for all fans of John Tams, Kate Rusby, Sharpe and great British folk music!

Many of the Albion's albums have the habit of kicking off with the top tracks and this one is no exception. The Uncle Bernards/Jenny Lind take merges straight in with the (now somewhat politically incorrect) 'Hunt is Up'. Always a great way of cheering myself up is to play these two tracks at high volume.
This is very much a traditional based album but covering a lot of ground from early music to the 20th century. The music varies from an almost straight classical Purcell minuet to typical up-tempo Albion folk rock.
Many of this line-up went onto make the classic Rise Up Like the Sun but if you like more trad music this would be my choice.
