My main reason in writing this is to say that unlike Pleemhead (see his review below) I had no problem playing this CD on my PC or ripping it (using Ashampoo's Burning Studio 6) to it and then synching it (via Windows Media Player version 11) to my Samsung MP3 player. I guess it depends on the software you have on your computer/laptop as to whether it will play or not and whether you can copy it to an MP3 player but it doesn't appear to be an inherent, anti-copying device embedded in the CD so don't let Pleemhead's review put you off purchasing it. If you're a fan of John Hiatt's music, I think you will find that this release is worth the price even if you could only play it on a CD player. There are no great surprises here - if like me you ... It's probably just about worth the extra money to get the John Hiatt DVD with his new CD, though it isn't very long.
The CD itself I'd give four stars to. On the whole I've enjoyed it very much, despite a couple of tracks he doesn't pull off vocally. It has a bunch of very catchy well-rounded songs and is really nicely produced for a change.
Note that there's nothing on the DVD from Same Old Man.
But there are performances of classic songs from presumably the late eighties when JH looked a bit gaunt, up to relatively more recent times when he looks older but better. I also prefer the somewhat later performances though they're all cherry picked good 'uns.

Don't know what others reviewers say but I quite enjoyed this record, is probably not Stevie's landmark record but it has great grooves (so what the fuzz) and melodic pieces like (cant I imagine the world w/o you) which are truly great.
The sound of the record is fantastic and the production is worth of carrying the thunderous `wonder' credit.
Fans should own this record! I think it blends the more commercial side of Stevie with his wonderful grooves from the 70's
