"Aqualung" is certainly the rawest of Jethro Tull's albums, as far from the artistic pretensions of "Thick as a Brick" and "Passion Play" as you can get in terms of their albums. This might have something to do with the album's mission statement, which is printed in old fashioned type on the linear notes: "In the beginning Man created God; and in the image of Man created he him....But as all these things did come to pass, the Spirit that did cause man to create his God lived on with all men: even within Aqualung. And man saw it not. But for Christ's sake he'd better start looking." Ironically, this is one of the few Jethro Tull albums where the lyrics are not printed despite the fact this is arguably the album where the lyrics mattereth the ... Read More:

I just saw this concert recently. Much more intimate than the concerts of the 70's (no, really?) and the minstrel in the gallery is 58 and straining his vocal cords, but we love him anyway! The first set was mostly acoustic with many interesting song choices (Weathercock, Nothing is Easy, Skating Away, Mother Goose & Cheap Day Return, etc.) and played with a cool, upfront "remember these?" charm (Ian started the night pissed at the auditorium management so he boiled up some piss & vinegar for the show, which is a good thing I think). The second set also rocked but more in the Aqualung style we all know and love. Martin, ever the pro, let loose the Marshall stack (with Soldano tube heads) attack on extremely receptive TULL fan eardrums, ... Read More:

This was the first Tull album I heard; As i played flute someone thought that I may like it; Witches Promise was the chosen track and I was instantly hooked. That remains one of my all time favourite Tull tracks.
I was fortunate to see them live twice and they were even better than I expected; Ian Anderson was a mainc genius who could not only write great songs but was a fantastic musician and performer.
The 2 live tracks are amazing and amongst the most played out of the entire collection of Tull albums I have.
The other tracks are shorter and some are more folk like in sound. Up The 'Pool is great fun and some of the accoustic giutar playing is first class. The whole album comes together brillaintly and if you havent heard ... Read More:
