After Of Rivers and Religion and After the Ball, Fahey's first two Orchestra albums, came this last one. All three contain great Fahey music, but there aren't any orchestras! What you get is Fahey in a variety of settings, most obviously with a New Orleans jazz band (he loved working with them). On this album there are three trad jazz tunes, Boodle Am Shake, Keep your Lamps Trimmed and Burning and Old Fashioned Love. I find them dull, others disagree. However, side one (as it used to be called) consists of three sparkling guitar duets (with the 19-year-old Woody Mann), one of which, Jaya Shiva Shankarah, is worth the price of the cd on its own - up there in my personal Fahey top three - with a fabulous tune, long, driving, like a river about ...
