I, like probably most people, have only come across Frankenstein Drag Queens as a result of Wednesday 13's input into Murderdolls. As it turns out they are very different bands, although many of the songs share common lyrics with the Murderdolls ones they are done in utterly different ways. That said, since buying the box-set I have come to enjoy the music regardless.

If you are planning on buying the box-set buy it because you are a Frankenstein Drag Queens fan and not because you are a Murderdolls or Wednesday 13 fan, or else you might well find yourself disappointed.

This is a surprising collection in that with most rock collections you get the usual songs but with this collection the tracklist is surprising and very varied and rather than rely on the standard rock song's (Ace Of Spades, All Right Now and so on) this offers an array of bands from Glam (The Sweet), Classic Rock (ZZ Top, Alice Cooper), Metal (Judas Priest, Pantera) Alt-Rock (Screaming Trees), Grunge (Alice In Chains).

Add to that the fact that you may own some of these songs (as I do) I was quite surprised to find the bulk of this collection was new to me. Add to that the fact that it is 100 songs over five discs at such a great price and you can't go wrong.

Elektra issued a mighty lot of music without exactly being in the big league,remaining independent till they sold to WEA in the 80s and signed Simply Red and Virginia Astley.
They actually began about 10 years earlier issuing 78s and folk music before folk music wasn't cool but by the time of the Urban Folk revival in the States they had a backlog of important artists like Judy Collins.

This compilation is all you need of Iggy at his best basicaly all of his best bits are compiled neatly on the two discs with the first covering some of his days with the Stooges while disc 2 goes straight into his solo years while the 3rd disc a live dvd is a welcome bonus.

best place to start with for fans old and new.
