I am a great fan of the music of "Wicked". OK, some people find it a bit drab and commercial, but I think it has some very clever and memorable moments. I was therefore very interested to hear how this CD would sound.

On the whole, I have mixed feelings about the result.

The song selection was good, dropping the least interesting numbers from the selection available on the cast album.

The sound production was simple but effective, being only a solo piano (perhaps double tracked in some parts). It would make good background music.

However, the CD doesn't bring any new ideas to the music and that is a slight disappointment and, I fear, a missed opportunity. It sounds like it's being played ... Read More:

one of my top 10 albums. it does have its goods and greats of course. i'll just highlight certain ones :P the weakest rendition for me is 'raise the roof' becuase i prefer the original version and the slow start i'm not keen on. however, she still does the song justice and soon belts it out the way it should be done. 'a thousand beautiful things/beautiful day' is a great merge of 2 good songs and she manages to make it more powerful than annie lennox and u2 altogether. her rendition of fancy is fabulously jazzy and i can imagine it sung in an old-fashioned nightclub somewhere! 'i'm not that girl' is great, with just a guitar it sounds more intimate and romantic than the wicked musical version. 'im not waiting' was a song i did have to listen to ... Read More:
