Having recently acquired the accompanying DVD on import, I must say I am looking forward immensely to purchasing the CD set as well and am particularly interested in hearing the extended versions as referred to by the previous reviewer.
On the DVD, both OM I & II come across as raw, powerful yet melodic pieces with, consummate performances from all members of the band as you would expect. The live `energy' of the band ensures that OM II grabs you more so than on the studio album.
Having seen Pamela Moore on the 2004 tour when they played OM I complete, the development of her contributions certainly compliment Geoff's vocals throughout this production and enhance the overall sound. Mike Stone looks and sounds comfortable in ... Read More:

Although David has had plenty of problems through the years, it appears that he was content with life when he recorded these albums. There are fewer of the darker songs that you'll find plenty of on his other albums, although even here sadness is never far away.

The first album of this twofer, Tattoo, opens brightly with Just to prove my love for you and Face to face, a couple of upbeat songs. These are followed by a couple of sad ballads, You'll always live inside to me (an ode to a former partner) and Play me a sad song. The next track, Daddy was a God-fearing man, is an upbeat tribute to his father.

I own this album on vinyl. It is very special.I knew very little about jazz (and scatting) when I brought it.Yes it does contain some eighties, dodgy synth riffs but it also contains (my personal discovery at the time) what pure singing should be about.This fact makes it listenable after many years.I went to see Al in London, alone; on the back of this discovery.I was overwhelmed by the beauty of his performance.I was so proud to tell my friends that I was a fan long before 'Breakin' Away. I felt 'cool' in a jazz way.You should listen and feel 'cool' too.
PS Please do not make Johhny Mathis comparisons as you will sound like my mum and not understand the differance!
