Petula made only a limited impact in the seventies - a pity, because some of her seventies music was wonderful. All the tracks are taken from three albums (Now, Come on home, I'm the woman you need) that were made available on CD in America for a while but are now out of print. Although Petula recorded some original material at the time, this compilation focuses mainly on covers. Given that, it is surprising to find that Loving arms (a well-known song that gave Petula an American hit despite being a cover) is omitted while three original songs (Wedding song, Will you love me, To give) are included.

I've Got To Learn To Live Without You is a sensation. A rich longing vocal truly gives the simplisity of the song something magical, it's quite lovely.

Killing Me Softly is something the original isn't, it's a dramatic and intense take on the song and works very well. The medley of Baby, I'm A Want You/Everything I Own is excellent but I would have liked to have had Petula just sing Everything I Own as her version really gives the song an emotional kick in a way I've never heard before.

Believe it or not, I was recommended this by a younger friend of mine that gives me hope that not all 18 year olds are gangstas who only listen to hip hop.

This beautifully-harmonied female choral work with minimal accompaniment is choral music with a contemporary feel; some of which could make it onto works like Angels Fall (Hed Kandi).

Very chilled-out, with some dance bits in there (not overly sure about those bits though).

Still, a very good album and highly recommended.
