The information is given via spoken narrative and musical excerpts, including excerpts of other Wagner works which are relevant to the background of how Opera "Tristan und Isolde" came to be.

A Foot in cold water, this takes me back. the first time I saw this sleeve was in my local record store, I didnt buy it straight away but I knew one day it would be mine. everytime I went to the store twice a week I would have this in my mind but would go home with something else, Kansas, Grand Funk,Flash... until no more I have to buy it. back at the home stereo this was one that had it. ( that something you know is good), after two listens I had to go round a friends just to play him the opening track ` I know` well he said to me that I had unearthed another gem and should be proud of myself, also he said the first song was a bit like Chris Speddings `Sharks` and to this day I still agree! this band did get big in their home country Canada. ... ...I have to say I don't like the "re-mastering" which in fact is quite a lot of re-recording of the backing tracks. I have all these songs on vinyl and grew up with them as a child and the Carpenters Singles hits '69 - '73 was the very first LP I ever bought. I virtually wore it out I played it so much - that fixes the detail of the whole song in your head and when you hear the re-work that Richard has done on this CD-set it leaves me a bit saddened that he didn't leave well alone.

Don't get me wrong, these are still great songs and I bought the CD for my partner. She won't be disappointed - but I will 'record' my vinyl tracks into a modern format so that I can enjoy the songs the way I remember them, wherever I am.
