Wow! Now this is what I call a riot. Baltimore's `The Death Set' are a grisly, lo-fi car crash of vicious post-punk and twisted Nintendo-pop, delivered with reckless abandon and in refreshingly-short, anthemic micro-blasts. Formed in 2005 in Sydney, Australia by Johnny Siera and Beau Velasco, Beau took a back seat as the band went global leaving Johnny to recruit Baltimore native, Peter O'Connell to double guitar and vocal duties. To flesh out their sound, the group is rounded out by whatever drummer can play fast enough on a fcuked up kit. As a unit, `The Death Set' play spazzed-out high energy punk incorporating laptop programming alongside a punk rock formula of guitars, drums and vocals. To get a rough idea of their sound you'll have to ... Read More:

I've been a big fan of the Plumps in the past, Saturday Night Lotion was excellent (a good precursor to the current electro sound), whilst a Plump Night Out is still a classic, as is their Fabric mix and Eargasm was good too (despite a couple of duff tracks). So with that in mind I approached this album with some anticipation. Unfortunately it's a big disappointment, the Plumps have tried to change direction a bit and make it more song based. It's a commendable idea but it doesn't come off, and whilst there a couple of good tracks, "System Addict" being the best, but overall it's rather forgettable, except for some of the vocals which are a bit grating. My recommendation would be to download "System Addict" and then check out some of their ... Read More:

There is one word that describes this album - POWERFUL. From the soft twinkle of the piano to the dramatic guitars, this album is beautifully composed from song one to thirteen. The ups and downs are uplifting and just friggin' amazing! I recommend this to anyone to try because you will love it's excellence exhumed by Nikki. James Michael and DJ Ashba add the extra kick into this mix.
