Search: Is This The World We Created....
by: Queen
Release Date July 14, 2003
It is generally commonly agreed that Queen's material got worse as the Eighties continued; coincidentally, as a live band, they got better and better as they went. There may be some correlation between these two facts - by 1984 they'd started writing songs specifically for their live audience, i.e. 'Radio Ga Ga' - but that means that here, on what serves you well as an additional Queen release outside of a Greatest Hits, you find Queen at their live peak, playing plenty of their stellar early material, the highlights of their 80s catalogue and more besides.
Despite some very minor editing issues - we didn't really need two minutes' worth of crowd interaction as the stopgap between 'A Kind Of Magic' and the following track - this ... Read More:

At the time of release, The Works was regarded as a return to form. Listening to the album now, it's very much of its time (the subject matter of the track Machines is a wee bit dated) but the music still holds up. Highlights are, of course, the 4 singles Radio Ga Ga, I Want To Break Free, It's A Hard Life and Hammer To Fall, but Tear It Up, Keep Passing The Open Windows and Is This The World We Created? are still worthy of a listen.

In august 1986 Queen walked off stage at Knebworth after playing theyre last ever concert. Freddie Mercury stunned the band by saying he was retiring from live performance. Later obviously it became apparent that his HIV was the cause of this. 1 month earlier they played 2 sell out gigs at Wembley stadium. This is the second night & it's a fantastic gig. Queen are on top of the world playing the hits that made them famous. Hit after hit is rolled out all instantly recognisable. By this time 2 hours wasnt long enough to fit all theyre songs in but they made a good effort with this. Essential listening, get it!!!!

whether you are an avid Queen fan, or simply a fan of good music, this Concert was quite simply the biggest and best show that Queen had ever produced. All of the most popular releases are here up until 1986 (when the concert took place). Status Quo were the supporting act so this should tell you what kind of event this was. Well worth buying. In terms of the concert, it is a magical gig....

What can you say - Freddie is in fine voice (though he does look a little bit fed up at times working so hard to get the audience involved - they aren't an over enthusiastic bunch), Brian's Guitar is brilliant as ever (despite the comment in an other review - was he watching this DVD?), Roger is on form and in really good voice compared to some live offerings (although for my taste the DTS mix is marginally over heavy on drums) and John's bass drives the whole concert with energy (how we miss him these days - come on John get out on the next tour!).
Someone commented that there are songs missing from this version but comparing song lists they are identical.
All in all the whole concert seems much fresher and the visuals are crystal clear (compared ... Read More:
