this review is a fantastic introduction to bow wow wow.

the only trouble is it misses of half of the tracks from the "your cassette pet" tape only album, misses a handful of album tracks from both albums And then leaves you wanting more....

if only they would have left the live tracks off (why bother? most are already here in complete studio form) & finished off a true history of bow wow wow, instead you will find yourself frantically searching for rare items on ebay. that or mp3s.

This recording from 1973 was made to celebrate 21 years of John Reed in the company. Musically it is conducted with flair and some enlightening passages. Roysten Nash produces subtle elements of Sullivan's score. The principals without exception are all past their prime and cannot match the later Telemarc version. To find the best Mikado, try and find the 1957 recording with Donald adams, Thomas Round, Jean Hindmarsh and Peter Pratt, it can be found!! brilliantly refurbished onto CD. That is and was D'Oyly Carte at their best. There is also the 1957 Pirates available! Happy hunting.

Welcome to this baron, desolate land brave discoverer, yes we most certainly are alone here in this isolated corner.

However I'm here to tell you that you have very fortunately stumbled across a jewel in the rough in the land of music.

If you prefer 3-chord student art rock as is the epitome of good music in public opinion please move on, nothing to see here.

Dreamscape are from Germany, the same people contriving your taste in music will have also had you believe Germany is good for nothing other than umpa bands and lederhosen.

This is an album that does almost the impossible; it manages to be heavy, technical and superbly dynamic but is wrapped in such gorgeous melody that it melts the heart. It'll ... Read More:

National Anthems

I've heard national anthems be performed with such vigor & emotion that you think you're hearing a new piece. then I've heard them played as if there was no spirit at all to give it life. Not to say this CD is poor. I think that it is exactly as the title says, no more. certainly not a lively display of patriotism for ANY of the titles. you hear them & you learn what they sound like but for listening pleasure I would say look elsewhere.
