I've been looking forward to this album since 'Day by day' came out a couple of years ago. Sizer Barker were superb when I saw them support Peter Gabriel on this year's European tour. Most albums I buy have 3 or 4 great songs, with the rest often being made up of average or below average songs. However, Hotel Juicy Parlour has a majority of above average tracks. Especially listen out for Bright Hope, We Came Up Favourite and Transmission Land, as well as the title track. As well as great pop (terrible word) theres a few songs to make you think a bit - throw in some great harmonys, and you've got a cool debut album. Look forward to the next one!

I didn't know Jez had died until I got my Mojo through the post today.

I was a little moddy boy in school from 1979 with my mates. I loved the Hearts, Secret Affair, the Jam, the Parkas, Lambrettas and the Chords. I tended to think that the lambrettas weren't as "real" as the other revival bands, maybe because of their "heart on the sleeve" band name.

They released some fantastic stuff though, particularly their debut, "Go Steady" produced by non-other than PWL legend Pete Waterman.

RIP Jez, thanks for the music mate, you were a beat boy in the jet age.
