Haydn's 'oratorio' (or whatever) The Seasons received its first performance in 1801, the 70th year of the composer's life. He was at the very height of his creative powers, and his inspiration had received a new jolt, as Beethoven's and Schubert's were later to do, through his exposure to Handel. He was not new to oratorio, indeed his Creation seems to me the only later work of that name that can be mentioned in the same breath as Handel's. He was also not unduly thrilled with the libretto of The Seasons, which comes in English and German versions but which he characterised tersely as 'franzoesischer Quark' (frenchified rubbish). This compilation marks the beginning of the hard house movement. Although there are some relatively cheesy tracks and recurring air horns, the catchy tunes and thumping bass lines are not to be missed. Lisa Pin-Up's CD1 is without a doubt some of the best mixing around and her inclusion of her very own "Future Acid House" and "Baddest Mutha" make it that much better. Her success shows how far hard house has come recently, led by Lisa Lashes, Anne Savage, herself and Fergie. Andy Farley's contribution illustrates what real hard house is all about and he manages to keep it real. Never samey, a great mix and a must for fans of hard house.

This is, admittedly, the first Nukleuz compilation that I have had the pleasure of listening to and can, therefore, not compare it with any of the previous Nukleuz compilations. Having said that, I've listened to many many Hard House compilations in my time, including the phenomenal Extreme Euphoria series, and can say with certain safety, therefore, that Nukleuz Hard House Anthems 3 is an absolutely mind-blowing compilation. If you're a fan of the Hard House genre then this is a MUST for your collection. Its 2 CD's are mixed impeccably by Ed Real and the awesome BK, A.K.A. Ben Keen, and deliver power and incredible energy the way a hard house compilation should. The pick of the tunes are Chris C - Get on the Floor on CD1 and Tony De Vit's incredible 'Dawn' ...
