This compilation gives nothing away about it's musical genre. I bought it after being attracted to the album cover (both of the Cookin Ingredients CDs look great in my CD rack!) I would describe it as chilled, funky beats, or mood music. Great for background music at a dinner party or a few drinks in the lounge. Not really good for listening to on your own. The tracks can go on a bit and are largely instrumental. Stand out tracks:- Artemis - Jupiter in Taurus, a solid stomping Funk track (so tight it sounds like the drummer is playing the bass with his kick pedal! Realside - Reality, Upbeat chill track with a great bassline.

As someone who often buys a soundtrack, it came as no real surprise that I wanted to own this one also after watching and loving the movie. However, there was something so different about the music contained on this album. The album comprises the score of the movie, some very dodgy electronica produced for the Zissou documentaries which you only hear snippets of in the film, are actually bop along, fantastic driving music. Also the amazing Bowie covers by Sue Jorge are worth buying the album for alone.
Jorge's adaptation of Life on Mars is a personal favourite, and just for good measure the actual Bowie work of genius is also included. This is all in all a fantastic album. It does help to have seen the movie to understand some ... Read More:

When driving it doesn't matter how cheesy or par ce a song is just as long as you can sing along to it and crank up the volume. With this box box set you get a mix of the loud, the power ballads and the downright dodgy all in one.
Some of the more delightful of offerings come from Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac and Chris Rea(Who has the driving anthems market covered in my view) Spun over three discs there are ample tunes to get you pipes around here. T'Pau, Phil Collins and The Cars, with their awesome "Drive" are there to give you your dosage of power ballads.
This CD will obviously appeal massively to dad's and would be a perfect fathers day present or birthday present but unfortunately I must confess that I love this box set ... Read More:

Things have come to a sorry pass indeed if this is the best list of songs that the compilers of this mediocre CD could think of to represent the best of British music of the past 40 years or so. There are a few great tracks on here - you can never hear 'Waterloo Sunset' too many times, 'Senses Working Overtime' is always welcome and the musicianship on 'Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick' boggles the mind. But, T'Pau should surely remain firmly in the 'where are they now' file, it's about time 'Tubular Bells' and Duran Duran's entire output were consigned forever to the cultural refuse dump and no-one in the world needs to hear 'In the Air Tonight' ever again, ever. Some of the other tracks are barely representative of the best output of the performers - although ... Read More:

This is a must get cd if you love rock. Bigger, Better Power Ballads II contains the most popular and loved songs and still has a brilliant price of £12.99 with 2 cd's. it is well worth the money.

Great album as it was likely to be but how the hell did atomic kitten get on there? If Robbie Williams is on then Oasis should be on as these two are the ONLY 'legendary' things to come out of britain in the last 10 years!
Apart from this 'niggle' everything else about the album is great but then again, the songs are taken from albums which most true brit will own anyway so I'll give it 5 stars but not really good value for money. P.S STILL can't believe Atomic Kitten is on and Oasis isn't!!
