Hours later you still have the music and the words buzzing around your head as it is so memorable. Stephanie Lawerence is very good playing Mrs Johnstone, and was an exceptional singer but the Liverpool accent was perhaps best produced by Linda Nolan although she did not have the quality of Stephanie's voice. I have see the musical four times with the same Narrator,and he is is superior to Warwick Evans. Also, Eddie is today played with gusto and at all four performances he has been fantastic and what an accent. As far as musical soundtracks go, this is a good buy, however it does appear to me to be somewhat slightly over the top as are many Broadway musicals. Although Petula Clark is not as powerful vocally as Barbara Dickson, you can't ignore the fact that she is a very good actress. I feel that she gives the most heartfelt performance of Mrs Jonstone that i've heard so far . . . the part where she has to hand over one of her twins to Mrs Lyons really touched me, and when she witnesses her sons tragic deaths, I have to be honest, it almost drew tears from my eyes. However, it still remains that no one can give a performance of "Tell me it's not true" quite the same as Barbara Dickson. David Cassidy makes the absolute perfect Mickey. His scouse ... Read More:
