Release Date June 05, 2006
I like all the songs on this CD but they are identical to five other compilation CD`s i own.
When are we going to be offered unheard songs from this era, there are hundreds out there.
The tracks all sound like the originals without much distortion.
If you are new to this era then this is a superb buy.
If you are an avid collector, like me, then you will have all these tracks already.

These are all original recordings by original artists (though some are not the first to record the songs; Fourmost covered motown songs and Billy Kramer was given Lennon-McCartney compositions that would appear on Beatles albums such as Got to Get You into My Life.) Its not just a load of nicey-nice sixties pop a lot of well-respected bands show up here; the Move, Small Faces, Animals, Zombies, Moody Blues (in the form of their pre-Days of Future Passed hit song Go Now) PP Arnold and even cult favourites Smoke. Some of it is mass-produced chirpy sixties pop but there's a surprising number of prime sixties power pop. ITs not just an all UK affair either; the Weight by the Band is on disc 4 and Wonderful World, beautiful people by Jimmy Cliff ... Read More:

This is a charming little CD with songs and extracts from quite a wide period. Uncle Mac's BBC newsreader tones from the early fifties describe a familiar children's game, whilst Benny Hill's Ernie brings back the early Seventies instantly.
My suspicions are that few of today's children will actually get to listen to this. It may well only be played once or twice by the Baby Boomers who do buy it, but it's also an interesting slice of British cultural history - Morecambe and Wise's Boom - Ooo - Yattatata will hopefully get a listening from another generation who will only know them from increasingly grainy clips shown on nostalgia shows.
