I got this about a week ago, I had been lisening to Bonkers for years and wanted a change, and I wasnt to sure about it as the last Helter Skelter I got Wasnt really hardcore (Helter Skelter Vs Raindance presents Rave Nation) apart from the third disc which was entitled "UK Hardcore". When I got this, I put on CD one (as you do) and I was sketchy as it just was not Hardcore, It was too slow and it sounded more like Drum & Bass. Then I played CD 2 and as the first song started to play I began to realize this was nothing like the first disc, this disc blew me away, song after song was amazing! It was true hardcore. Then I played CD 3 and once again I was blown away with song after song of amazing Hardcore. Songs like "Restless [Sparky & ... Read More:

The main problem with this CD is that while some tracks are indisputable classics, they've been edited down to minimal lengths in order to squeeze more material on.
This wouldn't be so bad if the album was consistently good, but I defy anyone to tell me that utter rubbish like 'Smart Es' and 'Trip to Trumpton' deserves reissuing - who's honestly going to listen to those?
On the plus side, you do get 'Stakker Humanoid' (albeit a shorter version than the original)and the top class 2 Bad Mice tracks. This comp is OK and pretty good, but with a bit of attention to detail it could have been much, much better.

I'm a big fan of old skool music and have a few other old skool compilations as well, but this is the best overall. I did have many of the tracks already on other albums but there are some hard to find classics on this album which made it worth buying. I was also surprised by some tracks I had totally forgotten.
The real gems on this album which can be hard to find elsewhere are Nakasaki, Get up, So in love with you, Been a long time, Saturday, Sugar is sweeter, There's nothing I won't do, Don't stop movin'. Add other more popular classics such as Born slippy, Professional widow, Missing,Show me love, Break of dawn, set you free, Go and others make this the best overall Old skool album with 60 tracks. I would recommend this even if ... Read More:

I agree with the reviewer below in that some of HK's recent releases have been slightly dodgy and appear to be cashing in on the rise in popularity of funky house music. Die hard fans have been complaining for months about the acquisition of the brand from ailing and tyrannical parent MoS, but it seems that the producers of this album have been given a more free reign to take HK back to its roots.
I'm glad CD1 wasn't reprasentative of the whole album, with lots of fairly commercial "heard it all before" tracks, only saved by decent mixing, however CD2 and 3 are subliminal. Never have Hed Kandi been this funky, the only comparison I can think of is HK: The Mix 50, another brilliant compilation. Tracks from Dervish, Bel Amour, Doc Da Funk, ... Read More:

1994 - Renaissance release what is now, considered one of the most important albums ever created, Renaissance The Mix Collection.
1995 - The follow up to the very first dance album continues in the same vein.
2007 - They release 'Future Club Classics'. But where's the Renaissance theme?
Like most vetrans who lived to see the 90's hey dance of dance music, i'm pretty fed up of the dribble of Classics albums, and other lifeless compilations. What I don't understand with this album is why Renaissance have reduced themselves to releasing such a themeless album. Indeed, they may believe it holds some 'future classics', but since when have any been material for the famous club?
Admittedly, the days Sasha, Digweed, ... Read More:

and after being slightly underwhelmed the first time, I've had to revise my initial opinion.
It's very good.
Three discs:
1 - Hardcore: the most modern one in feel. Edging towards freeform, a little abrupt in some of the transitions, but can't really grumble about the track selection. You really can't have too much of "Injected with a Poison".
2 - Happy Hardcore: the one I was less impressed with the first time around. No idea why (must be a mood thing) but this time it seemed to hang together much better. "24 Track" is a cracker of a tune. On the other hand, "Boomstick" I could have done without, just once, on a mixed cd. Stu Allan's work, which accounts for the goodness.
3 - Old Skool Rave: not a familiar style to me, but ... Read More:
