Like the reviewer above, I was also impressed by the exerpt of the West Side Story Suite shown recently on Classic FM TV.

I would rate the TV viewing experience as 10 out of 10 but listening to audio only as only 8 out of 10. I guess seeing the big crowd, the backdrop of Central Park, New York and close ups of Joshua Bell's fantastic contol of the violin greatly enhanced the overall experience.

I found the rest of the album quite boring and uninteresting. The West Side Story Suite is probably worth the purchases price by itself but probably won't quite blow you away.

I was fortunate to buy this when it was first released in the UK and included four bonus tracks (three from Put yourself in my place and one from Homeward looking angel), but the ten tracks that form the standard album would have made the purchase well worthwhile anyway.

Mi vida loca (my crazy life) became a number one country hit for Pam. It has a Tex-Mex feel to it and swings along in great style - definitely one to get your toes tapping, as is the next track, Sweetheart's dance. Next comes a brilliant ballad, Calico plains, written and first recorded by Matraca Berg.
