The Very Best of BluegrassSearch: Lot More by: Arizona Smoke Revue Release Date October 12, 1998 I was given this poor effort as a gift, and I'm only reviewing it because there are far, far better introductions to the exhilarating world of bluegrass music than this. I don't know who Arizona Smoke Revue are, but at best they sound like a pub band thrown together for the sake of putting out some product. The playing is sloppy, the sound is bad, the instrumentation is not classic bluegrass, and the song choices are hackneyed and badly arranged. Bluegrass is all about instrumental virtuosity, spine-tingling vocal harmonies and tight, driving arrangements. Sadly, there is none of that on display here. |
