This year's Beach Angel release sees Mark digging deep in the vaults for almost three cds worth of classic Beach anthems. That's fair enough if you're new to the whole Fierce Angel series but for those who own most of the summer cds from FIERCE ANGEL/HED KANDI there is no point in purchasing this compilation.

Yes, some of the tunes are fantastic, I did really enjoy CD 1 especially the Barbara Mendes track (sweet), but CD 2 & 3 didn't really appeal to me for some reason.

This album could have been so much better had a bit more forethought and effort gone in to including up and coming artists and tracks. There is a wealth of deep & latin house out at the moment and it's a real shame that there aren't many 2008 ... Read More:

As i write this letter in my record shop, i really feel lucky to be the first one to have oportunity to chronic this one!, and most of all i'm a french guy.you might have preffering me to select all the tune, but i won't, just be shure i' ve got hundreds of compilations in my head... that's the one i 'll bring , not on a island but close to my bed....and as soon as i wake up (from that nice night !) i'll play the grooviest northern soul tune from the same label.
ps: god bless ian levine for his soul for all his life!

There are better Funk compilations out there, and if you're a purist you won't go near this, but if you know a couple of the tracks here and want to extend your musical boundaries a little then this could be for you.

There's the usual suspects on a Funk collection, Curtis, and Parliament, Kool and Cameo, but on the positive side, the tracks are occasionally not the obvious ones - "Flashlight" gets an airing as does "Spirit of the Boogie".

"Jungle Fever" is one I didn't expect to find in this company, it's very Funky and in the original sense of the word, and an Al Green track is always a bonus in my book.

Overall, too many tracks here are from the late 70's and being a bit of a purist myself, lean too close ... Read More:
