First up - as is probably obvious, this is a covers album. I understand why some bands may do an occasional cover but an entire album full can raise some eyebrows.
If it was any standard album then it'd be a fairly decent attempt at an alternative take on a fairly random assortment of tunes. The problem lies in the fact that A Perfect Circle's own material has a very distinctive atmosphere and style behind it and in trying to apply it to some of these other songs, it fails.
I would stress at this point that there are a number of very good renditions on here.
The good? The Annihilation - anathemic but nicely done. Peace Love and Understanding - takes a while to get going, but the usage of strings works nicely ... Read More:

I really don't care whether this cd matches up to the orginal vinyl version - it ain't available so why worry about it.
This collection of Liberty artists (whilst strictly second division in the great scheme of things) does what a sampler compilation should do - introduce you to a number of artists that you would like to explore further.
The bad news - too much Groundhogs, Man and Hawkwind (4,3,3 tracks respectively.) Also it's presented in a clunky plasic case (see the 'Time Machine' & 'Legends of a Mind' box sets as to how it should be done).
The good stuff? Plenty!
The Idle Race (Jeff Lynne pre Move)
Help Yourself - Street Songs (Very PC - not!) & Eddie Warring (guitar wig out time) ... Read More:

If you're only a casual listener of Elvis Costello, or perhaps just discovering his music, this is the best of his best ofs, and provides an excellent overview of his illustrious and impressive music career although material from The Delivery Man, Momofuku and Il Sogno will not be included as they are more recent albums.
This album has all the classics and the songs which probably hooked you in the first place, such as Veronica, Alison, She and Oliver's Army. There are some other lesser known gems in here, my favourites being Sulky Girl, That Day Is Done and So Like Candy.
In the late 1980s, Elvis Costello worked with Paul McCartney, which is, incidentally, how I became aware of Costello. Some of their best works (as individuals) ... Read More:

At the time of its release I liked a few songs but didn`t appreciate this album as a whole. Bought it recently because of the few good tunes I remember liking only to be surprised at how good the other tunes are. This relates especially to what used to be B-side material when records were the music media; notable tracks being Sunday`s Best and Two Little Hitlers.
I recently read that Costello listened a great deal to ABBA shortly before recording this album. This is evident in the fluency of the songs, many very catchy tunes that is maybe disguised by the more organic production style. The style of singing by Costello is marvelous, a very descriptive way of expressing the words as in "...add to your collection" in the brilliant Accidents Will Happen. The texts ... Read More:
