unbelievably great album - I didn't think they could easily better their first one, but they have! The only let down is the packaging of this edition - it's fun to start with but difficult to store on your CD shelf! The Bonus tracks on disc 2 are worth the 2 or 3 extra quid.

There always seems to be a lot of fuss over this particular Elton John album and I have to admit I don't see why. There's an awful lot of stodge on this album with overlong songs and styles that don't suit Elton John. Bennie & The Jets is particularly awful bordering on cabaret. It just sounds embarrassing. It's also an era of music I really don't like being in the midst of glam rock which is pantomime music at best. There's too much of that on here. Of course, there are moments that shine through, the title track and Candle in The Wind being absolute classics.
As far as the SACD goes, I don't find it impressive in the slightest compared to the other SACDs I own. I'm not commenting on the surround mix as I find surround to be a gimmick ... Read More:
