Been a big fan of Martin Stephenson since 1991. Only really got into this album over the last couple of months. It kind of slipped under the radar but i really love it now i have listened to it a few times. I really like the production quality of the CD, it sounds quite raw like a real band playing as so many of his CD's do. Its got a great flow to the songs with a good balance of light and shade and really rocks out especially at the end, i thoroughly recommend it i think it is consistent all the way through.
Release Date February 27, 1996
This is an amazing album, featuring a heady combo of guitar, ragtime piano, Hammond organ and genuinely good songs. Buy it!

I bought this album on the basis of fine reviews, highlighting adjectives like "bright", "summery", "poppy". I think good reviews of weak material are explained by reviewers enjoying something different for a change. The problem is that something is often too rough for the rest of us
The reviews didn't mention the weak songwriting that never manages quite to deliver the inspiring chorus.
Worse is the dreadful fuzzy production: too much echo; unimaginative synth drum-loops in the background; multi-tracked and echoed vocals; everything turned right up in the mix; and no variation at all from song to song.
This is messy ill-thought-out not-quite-pop. It's like the Magnetic Fields or Babybird's more whacked ... Read More:
