. Power of Soul - A Tribute to Jimi HendrixSearch: May This Be Love by: Jimi Hendrix Release Date May 24, 2004 Its nice to see tributes out there, simply for bringing attention to an artists music. Although Hendrix doesn't really need it, it can't hurt, especially when those paying tribute include the likes of Prince, John Lee Hooker, Santana and the list goes on. The musics not bad either. What they've done is to do a hendrix song in their own style. This CD is a compilation of work done over a few years so wasn't neccersarily recorded for the cd, which means the artists haven't rushed it and have come up with something they really wanted. This produces some interesting results. Earth wind and fires Voodoo is very different. Slower, funkier, a bit cheesy but not bad. Yeomen of the Guard, PatienceSearch: May This Be Love by: Gilbert and Sullivan Release Date March 31, 2003 'Patience' has a strong cast and is recommended; with 'Yeoman', I would agree with Cliff Lex Parker. Loud ensembles distort badly (particularly in the finale) and anyway George Baker is much too robust and healthy as Jack Point. So, buy the set if you want a second 'Patience' for historical reasons and ignore 'Yeoman', or if you have no other recording buy the 1961 D'Oyly Carte intead. |

How she was cast in the regular company amongst such stalwart D'Oyly stars as Reed, Adams, Knight and Sandford is beyond belief! So go for the Sargent set instead. |
