Willie was also brilliant with original material, as he shows on My heroes have always been cowboys, On the road again and others. Willie Nelson is an absolute genius, as original as he is talented and deserves much more recognition than he ever gets. This set therefore, is a must for all Willie Nelson fans.

As a long term fan, I must admit that there are some unusual song choices here, but all in all this is a great career retrospective.

As anyone in the know will tell you, Willie Nelson doesn't know how to make a bad record, but if he did, it would probably be the best bad record ever made. So do yourself a favour, buy this set, play it often and, if you don't like it, you clearly have severe mental health issues and should seek immediate medical assistence.

I purchased this having seen Willie years ago on the George Hamilton show with his long hair and Trigger his aged guitar. I wasn't sure whether Country was for me but I knew a few tracks and thought I would give it a try. It is superb in every way and is not the usual Country Music that we hear from Dolly and others. This is more Country Blues and some of the lyrics are sad and poignant whilst others are good fun. Willie is very versitile and I love this album and have since purchased others and DVD's of his concerts. I have yet to be dissapointed,a true professional and entertaning musician withso much energy. I am definiely a convert to Willie Nelson but I would say I am not a convert to Country & Western Music.
