Australian tenor/composer David Hobson is probably best known for his memorable Rodolfo in Baz Luhrmann's legendary production of La Boheme, and as an acclaimed Orphee in the recently released DVD of the rarely performed 1774 Orphee et Eurydice - both for Opera Australia - but his work as a recording artist is scarcely known outside his own country. However, since 1997 - when he and fellow composer David Hirschfelder collaborated on a CD of their own compositions ('Inside This Room', released in 1999 and re-issued in 2002) - Hobson has been a regular visitor to the recording studio, and has a growing number of well-received CD albums to his credit.

For a relaxing couple of hours just to yourself, plug in the headphones and sit back and enjoy. The music flows pleasantly from soft and light to that more uplifting fibrancy that pulls you and your heart and mind to an edge of pleasure but without going overboard into the more emotional and vibrant pieces. For myself i have preferred using a travel mask to totally remove myself from the house around me! Really relaxing!

I am just about to order this album from Amazon. I give it 5 stars since it will likely have most of the songs that I love and maybe a few new ones. I listen to his music almost daily. I have listened to Russell's voice mature over the years, and I can say for sure that it is getting even better. The Voice is my personal favorite where he diplays his incredible tenor voice. Some say he can't sing opera. I totally disagree. His youthful, clear sound is amazing as he seems to reach incredible heights with ease. Not a well seasoned Povarotti or Mario Lanza, but different and refreshing.

My other favorite is Amore Musica. Here, you can tell that his voice has matured. But he can still hit the high C's. The choice of songs is fantastic, ... Read More:

I was very excited to hear that Blake had a new album coming out so I quickly ordered this one. I have to say, while I still love their music, it came as a disappointment. Quite a few of the songs that are being covered are too well known and Blake's version is not that different from the original. What made their first album great was the unique way their voices gave character to well-known pieces of music. This album however lacks the warmth and originality of the first. It is a bit too "pop" and "balladesque". Best song in this album is probably "Chasing Cars".

Quite a few of the songs that are being covered are too well known and Blake's version is not that different from the original. Japanese import `From the Heart' released in 2007 is presumably intended as a `Best of' Katherine Jenkins, all the songs being previously available.

Of the fourteen tracks, there are none from her debut album `Premiere' on this collection (Lascia ch'io pianga and The Lord is my Shepherd would have been worthy inclusions), while there are four tracks each from `Second Nature' and `Living a Dream, and `Serenade' wins the remaining six tracks.

Yes, I would recommend this as a good selection of Katherine Jenkins music, but I don't think it's the `Best Of' due to the omission of, for example, Nessun dorma, Amazing Grace and We'll Meet Again (honestly, how could you leave that one out?).

`Cortes' is the second album by Icelandic born (in 1974) tenor Gardar Thor Cortes, although his debut album of two years earlier (also called Cortes, but with a different collection of songs) was released only in his native Iceland. It reached No. 1 in the UK Classical charts (for 2 weeks) and peaked at No. 27 in the UK albums chart after its release in April 2007.

Opening with Nella Fantasia is a safe option, and I think this is a good version, but it's been covered by many singers recently so doesn't tell us much about Cortes. More interesting choices are the cover version of `Hunting High and Low' by Norwegian pop band 'a-ha', and the Mauro Malavasi composition `Romanza' written for Andrea Bocelli who made it into a huge hit and included ...
