The choice of songs is comprehensive, with a few exquisite and unusual treasures thrown in from the English folk tradition. For once, with a 'children's song tape', the instrumental settings depart from standard-issue radio 2 soft pop. Medieval instruments and skilled playing do wonders for tired nursery classics and folk stuff alike, but...the lead singer's delivery makes Julie Andrews seem laid back; so much so that you welcome the less pure-of-voice blokes when they are allowed to do the occasional number. My 2 year old daughter doesn't seem to mind though, and there's something to be said for such crystal-clear singing: she's been humming even the complex melodies perfectly since Christmas, and is now going for the words.
